Her Royal Highness recognizes that the people’s good health is a major factor contributing to quality livelihood and plays a pivotal role in national development, progress, and prosperity. As Honorary President of the Princess Mother’s Medical Volunteer Foundation (PMMV) since 2009, Her Royal Highness has paid Royal Visits and provided assistance for the treatment of the sick in remote areas across the country through the PMMV’s operations up to the present.
On this important mission, Her Royal Highness paid a Royal Visit to the PMMV in the North from April 20-25, 2026 at Thungkaowwittayakom School, Lampang Province, Pasang Industrial and Community Education College, Lamphun Province, and Chomthong School, Chiang Mai Province to observe operations and boost the morale of officials, as well as local people who came for treatment services. All expressed their gratitude in recognition of Her Royal Highness’s immeasurable benevolence. In particular, Her compassion extends to needy patients, suffering from severe diseases and requiring continuous and timely treatment, such as congenital heart disease, primary peritoneal cancer, cleft lip and cleft palate, cerebral palsy, and scoliosis. Her Royal Highness worked with the medical team to make diagnoses and kindly took these patients under Her Royal Patronage so that they could be transferred to Chulabhorn Hospital and provincial hospitals for further treatment.
Her Royal Highness also graciously bestowed financial assistance from the Chulabhorn Foundation on all the patients who had an audience with Her to cover their necessary expenses. Her Royal Highness also delivered an address during Her Royal Duty at Pasang Industrial and Community Education College, Lamphun Province, on April 23, 2026. An excerpt reads…
“ Professions of doctors and nurses are exhausting. I have such experience. But I would like to encourage all of you doctors, nurses, dentists in every field – that, once you enter this line of responsibility, continue to undertake it because people need the PMMV’s care. … ”
The PMMV’s mission in the Provinces of Lampang, Lamphun, and Chiang Mai constitutes a major mechanism for promoting access to quality medical and public health services for the sick in remote areas. Under the direction of Her Royal Highness, the Royal Medical Unit of Chulabhorn Hospital cooperates with local public health offices, including provincial hospitals, community hospitals, and provincial public health offices, to provide comprehensive medical and public health services. The medical personnel are experts in numerous fields to ensure that local people receive comprehensive services, including general treatment, breast cancer screening, dental services, Thai and Chinese traditional medical treatments, and advice on healthcare and disease prevention, all of which were provided free of charge. Furthermore, registrations were open for eye and organ donation, in conjunction with the Thai Red Cross Society, to accommodate those who wished to take part in helping their fellow people. Her Royal Highness also directed the 2nd and 3rd year medical students from the Princess Srisavangavadhana Faculty of Medicine, Chulabhorn Royal Academy, to participate in actual treatment, and provide knowledge and advice on the initial health rehabilitation of patients. These practices will enhance the students’ experience and skills in caring for patients and prepare them for application in their future medical profession.
Professor Dr. Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Krom Phra Srisavangavadhana has long recognized the importance of the nation’s medical and public health development. In particular, Her Royal Highness has continued the commitment of Her Royal Highness Princess Srinagarindra, the Princess Mother, and that of Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Vadhana Krom Luang Naradhiwas Rajanagarindra by means of the PMMV’s mission to provide treatment services to local people nationwide, ensuring that the disadvantaged have equitable and inclusive access to medical care, elevating the people’s quality of life and promoting the nation’s public health security sustainably.
