On December 4, 2025 at 02.00 p.m., in the Meeting Room, 11th Floor, Agrarajakumari Building, Chulabhorn Hospital, Professor Dr. Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Krom Phra Srisavangavadhana graciously gave the opportunity to Khunying Charatsri Teepirach, Vice President for Administration and Director, Office of the President, Chulabhorn Research Institute, to bring General Ukrit Boontanon, Commander in Chief of the Royal Thai Armed Forces and General Pana Claewplodtook, Commander in Chief of the Royal Thai Army and delegation to have an audience with Her Royal Highness.  They humbly reported on the progress of the construction of walls along the Thai-Cambodian border together with the parallel patrol roads under the responsibility of the Royal Thai Armed Forces and the project to construct bunkers and shelters under the Royal Thai Army’s “Hataitip Fund” Support Project.  This constitutes a vital mission to fulfill Her Royal Highness’s intention to bolster security and safety of civilians’ lives and property along the border and enhance safety, boost morale, and strengthen the frontline troops who are maintaining peace and protecting the nation’s sovereignty.

On this occasion, Her Royal Highness granted the sum of 121,089,300 baht from the fund raising through the “Hataitip Fund” under the Chulabhorn Foundation to the Commander in Chief of the Royal Thai Armed Forces and the Commander in Chief of the Royal Thai Army as requested by them to be used as expenses in the construction project under the action plans of the 2 agencies with the following explanation:

The Royal Thai Armed Forces (RTARF) devised an action plan on the project to construct border walls and parallel patrol roads for the distance of approximately 8 kms, covering the areas between the boundary markers no. 52–59 in Pong Nam Ron District, Chanthaburi Province which is adjacent to Kamrieng District, Battambang Province, Cambodia.  The areas are suitable for the construction of border walls because of their flat terrain, easy access, with no territorial dispute.  Operations undertaken included mine clearance for the troops’ safety in parallel with the survey and setting up of temporary markers along the boundary markers no. 52-59 to prepare for the future construction of border walls.  In summary, the expenses for the construction of the parallel patrol roads and border walls total 69,275,700 baht.

At the same time, the Royal Thai Army’s “Hataitip Fund” Support Project devised an action plan to construct bunkers (two-man foxholes) within the operating bases of the troops and 10 shelters, each capable of holding 40 civilians, in case of emergencies or natural disasters.  The construction in risk-prone areas covered every province along the Thai-Cambodian border.  In summary, the expenses for the construction amount to 51,813,600 baht.

At present, the Royal Thai Armed Forces is in the process of surveying additional areas for consideration of constructing border walls in the next phase.  As the Royal Thai Army’s “Hataitip Fund” Support Project has expanded to include the construction of bunkers and shelters in high-risk zones, additional budget support will be sought for the operations.

The support for the project to construct border walls, parallel patrol roads, bunkers, and 40-person capacity shelters from the Hataitip Fund under the Chulabhorn Foundation constitutes one of the vital missions concerning national security, fulfilling the noble intention of Professor Dr. Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Krom Phra Srisavangavadhana , Chair of the Fund’s Executive Committee.  It is Her Royal Highness’s steadfast intention to support the government and the private sector in preventing and mitigating threats to the people and the nation, causing harm to life and property, as well as enhancing people’s quality of life and well-being in a sustainable manner.

The Hataitip Fund under the Chulabhorn Foundation is a key mechanism that unites all the Thais in mitigating hardship and enhancing peace and happiness of the Thai people across the nation.
