On January 27, 2024 at 09.00 a.m., by Royal Command of Professor Dr. Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Mahidol, President of the Chulabhorn Research Institute, Mr. Chalit Manityakul, Vice President for International Relations, Chulabhorn Research Institute, presided over the opening ceremony of the Project on Integrated Training for Knowledge Dissemination and Technology Transfer on the Management of Rabies to Communities. This event which is part of the strategy of HRH Princess Chulabhorn’s project on “Disease-free Animals, Safe Humans from Rabies”, was held at Loei Palace Hotel, Mueang Loei District, Loei Province. The project was organized through the cooperation between the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and the Faculty of Education, Kasetsart University. The objective was to exchange knowledge on animal health, human health, and the efficient and sustainable management of dogs in communities. The various integrated training activities included lectures to provide academic knowledge, follow-up on the progress and cooperation among relevant agencies under the local laws and regulations in managing and solving the problems of stray dogs, promoting knowledge and understanding of rabies by using the Game Based Learning as a training tool, as well as a workshop on the use of the information systems to prevent rabies in schools and communities. Through the benevolence of Professor Dr. Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Mahidol, and in addition to her commitment to the well-being of the Thai people in various aspects, Her Royal Highness also takes great interest in the development of veterinary science to promote the healthcare of animals so that they do not suffer from serious diseases especially rabies, which constitutes a major public health problem in the country. Her Royal Highness continuously dedicates all her efforts to supporting the government sector in addressing such problems, as demonstrated for instance by her royal duties performed with HRH Princess Chulabhorn’s Veterinary Volunteer Unit in Chaiyaphum, Lop Buri, and Phetchabun Provinces between January 27-30, 2024. Chulabhorn Research Institute Certified as Research/Development Agency The Chulabhorn Research Institute was certified for laboratory standards in compliance with the OECD Principles of GLP from the Bureau of Laboratory Quality Standards, Department of Medical Sciences, Ministry of Public Health, on October 25, 2023. As a testing agency for product safety in compliance with the OECD Principles of GLP, the Chulabhorn Research Institute will contribute to upgrading testing standards for product safety to be on par with international standards. This will enhance confidence in products and improve the potential of Thai entrepreneurs for higher competitiveness in production and export.
