Professor Dr. Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Mahidol performs Royal Duties with the Princess Mother’s Medical Volunteer Foundation and Bestows Royally-Granted Survival Packs to Displaced People in Si Sa Ket, Surin, and Buri Ram Provinces
Professor Dr. Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Mahidol is filled with great compassion and deeply concerned with the well-being of the Thai people. As the country faces tensions along the Thai-Cambodian border – affecting the safety, quality of life, and well-being of local residents, especially health issues of the sick and disadvantaged, as well as displaced people who lack access to normal medical and public health services as in normal situations – Her Royal Highness directed the Princess Mother’s Medical Volunteer Foundation (PMMV) to provide medical check-ups and treatment for the displaced people from the current situation in the three lower northeast provinces of Si Sa Ket, Surin, and Buri Ram. Her Royal Highness also bestowed Royally-Granted survival packs to initially alleviate the suffering of the affected people. The mission took place from August 29-31, 2025.
Upon arrival in each area to perform Her Royal Duties, Her Royal Highness visited local people and granted audiences to patients in need – particularly those with serious chronic diseases requiring continuous care – so they could receive timely Royal Assistance. These patients included individuals suffering from conditions such as breast cancer, lymphoma, brain cancer, ischemic stroke, scleroderma, congenital heart disease, and biliary atresia. Her Royal Highness graciously took these patients under Her patronage and arranged for their transfer to the Chulabhorn Hospital or other medical facilities so that they would receive the highest level of care, supported by medical specialists and advanced equipment. In addition, Her Royal Highness provided grants from the Chulabhorn Foundation to cover initial necessary expenses.
During the mission, Her Royal Highness also granted audiences to PMMV members, comprising doctors, dentists, pharmacists, registered nurses, medical and public health volunteers, as well as support volunteers. Her Royal Highness presented committee and sub-committee emblems to representatives of the PMMV committee and sub-committee in each province, and also presented the PMMV emblems, brooches inscribed with the Royal Monogram “S.V.”, and trophies to the volunteers.
Afterwards, Dr. Yooth Bodharamik, M.D., Secretary-General of the Princess Mother’s Medical Volunteer Foundation led the PMMV volunteers in singing “One Heart” a song composed by Her Royal Highness Herself. Her Royal Highness personally chose this song to convey steadfastness in Her enduring love and protection of the motherland, emphasizing Her Royal Highness’s belief that, as the song reflects every PMMV volunteer shares a united spirit to defend the country. On this occasion, Her Royal Highness applauded work performed by all the medical teams and the PMMV volunteers who have dedicated themselves to caring for the sick people.
The PMMV’s missions contribute to public benefit in promoting good health among the sick, the poor, and the disadvantaged in remote areas, ensuring their access to basic and effective medical and public health services across the board. Under the direction of Her Royal Highness, the PMMV in each province cooperate with the Royal Medical Unit of Chulabhorn Hospital to fulfill Her Royal Highness’s intention to cover general treatment, dental services, Thai traditional medical treatment, and advice to promote and rehabilitate health for disease prevention, providing these services free of charge. As the Honorary President of the Princess Mother’s Medical Volunteer Foundation since 2009, Her Royal Highness has continuously performed Royal Duties in medical and public health fields, providing opportunities for access to medical treatment, disease prevention, and health rehabilitation of the sick and the needy across the nation. Her Royal Highness firmly believes that people’s good health constitutes a strong foundation of the country’s secure and sustainable development.
Furthermore, Her Royal Highness bestowed Royally-Granted survival packs from the Office of Special Activities, Chulabhorn Research Institute, an agency under Her Royal Highness’s initiative, comprising 100 sets of essential supplies to Governors, Commander of the 2nd Army, and representatives of the soldiers and policemen who maintain peace and order along the border. Her Royal Highness also delivered an address to boost morale and give blessings to all those who selflessly performed their duties to protect the country’s sovereignty along the border. An excerpt of the address reads “I ask all of you to take care of the local people. If I have the opportunity to come back, I will. Finally, I extend my best wishes to the Governors, the Commander, and the soldiers present here. May you have the moral strength to support the local people who rely on you…I give my blessings to all of you for your safety in your duties. For the soldiers who are not here, I send my best wishes to all of them as well…”
Her Royal Highness’ s profound compassion in providing medical and public health support, as well as alleviating the suffering of those displaced by tensions along the Thai-Cambodian border, has greatly inspired the local people to endure and overcome these difficult times with strength and stability. Her Royal Highness is like life-giving divine water that brings peaceful harmony and happiness to all Thais nationwide under Her benevolent care.
