By Royal Command of Professor Dr. Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Mahidol, Chulabhorn Research Institute Holds a Ceremony to Set Up Shrines, the Spirit and the Household God
On July 29, 2025 at 09.19 a.m., Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chusak Limsakul, Vice President for Administration, Building and Grounds, Chulabhorn Research Institute (CRI), presided over a ceremony to set up the Shrines of the Spirit and the Household God at the Center for Biologics Research and Development (CBRD) Building, CRI. The event was attended by CRI’s executives, researchers, and personnel of the CBRD. The religious rites were led by Phra Phawanawachiramongkol, Abbot of Wat Pa Tham Sophon and Deputy Chief Monk of Lopburi Province. The rituals were aimed to invite the Guardian Spirit and the Ancestral Spirits to dwell in the Shrines, at the CBRD Building, CRI, for protection and auspiciousness of the Center and its personnel.
Professor Dr. Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Mahidol, President of the CRI, will graciously preside over the opening ceremony of the CBRD on Friday, August 1, 2025. During the event, HRH will also observe the accomplishments of the CBRD, whose mission is devoted to comprehensive research and development and production of biologics. Under the leadership of the President of the CRI, the CBRD team of researchers were recently successful in the R&D and production of a “trastuzumab” biosimilar, a cancer targeted therapy, without resorting to purchase or technology transfer from abroad. The groundbreaking biologic was granted officially drug registration license on May 20, 2025, under the name “HERDARA”, graciously bestowed by Her Royal Highness Herself. It is the first monoclonal antibody biologic developed entirely by Thai researchers for the benefit of the Thai people.
The CBRD Building, CRI, has been certified under the regulations of the Food and Drug Administration, Ministry of Public Health, as a modern pharmaceutical manufacturing facility. This certification is to ensure that all biologics produced meet the highest standards of quality, efficacy, and safety for the Thai people, fulfilling the vision of the Scientist Princess to provide Thailand with pharmaceutical self-reliance and national drug security.
