In 2024, by Royal Command of the President of the Chulabhorn Research Institute (CRI), the CRI organized the 9th Princess Chulabhorn International Science Congress under the theme “The Challenges of One Health: The Roles of Biosciences and Chemistry” to honor His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua on the auspicious occasion of His Majesty’s 72nd Birthday Anniversary on July 28, 2024. The Congress was held from December 15-18, 2024, at Shangri-La Hotel Bangkok. This significant International Science Congress highlighted the role of biosciences and chemistry in addressing the concept of the “One Health” of the World Health Organization (WHO), emphasizing the close relationship and interdependence between human health, animal health, and the environment, for comprehensive good health and safe coexistence. To date, a number of research that has been conducted under the policy direction of the President of the CRI aligns with the One Health concept, as demonstrated by achievements in various numerous research and academic projects.

At this year’s Congress, 59 leading international scientists from 16 countries, including representatives from international organizations, notably the World Health Organization (WHO), Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), US Food and Drug Administration (US FDA) delivered lectures. Over 750 participants from 30 countries joined to exchange knowledge, expertise, and experience in joint study and research through keynote lectures, plenary sessions, symposiums, workshops, and roundtable discussions, covering various details of the topic of One Health. Notably, 175 scientists and researchers from both Thailand and abroad presented their work through oral presentation and poster sessions.

Thailand takes great pride in hosting this International Science Congress under the leadership of Professor Dr. Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Mahidol, President of the CRI, who recognizes the importance of human resource development in science and technology, aligned with the global advancement in technology, contributing to progress in the country’s medical and public health sectors, with the ultimate goal of sustainably improving the quality of life and well-being of the Thai people.
