Professor Dr. Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Mahidol, President of the Chulabhorn Research Institute (CRI), has dedicated Herself to numerous research and academic work, scientific development, as well as improving people’s access to standard medical and public health services, aiming to develop the
quality of life, alleviate suffering, and promote happiness among the Thai people in a sustainable manner.

Acting upon the President of the CRI’s directives, comprehensive site visits were organized, under the banner of the Princess Mother’s Medical Volunteer Foundation (PMMV) and the Chulabhorn Veterinary Volunteer Unit, to offer services in a campaign for the promotion of people’s health and disease prevention, in parallel with the care for animals’ good health.  This took place at Nakhon Ratchasima Rajabhat University and Bua Yai School, in Nakhon Ratchasima Province, from March 25-26, 2023.

The PMMV in Nakhon Ratchasima Province, consisting of teams of doctors, nurses, and public health
officials from Nakhon Ratchasima Provincial Public Health Office, Mueang Nakhon Ratchasima District Public Health Office, Bua Yai District Public Health Office, and local hospitals, worked with each other with
commitment, dedication, and selflessness to fulfill Her Royal Highness’s intention to assist society, especially needy and underprivileged patients without expecting anything in return, targeting better quality of life of people across the board.  The teams offered services which included treatment of general illnesses, health consultations, traditional Thai and Chinese medicine, dental care, such as check-ups, cleaning, and
extractions.  Common health issues addressed included musculoskeletal, respiratory, and circulatory
disorders.  Over the two-day event, a total of 256 patients received treatment.

In addition, the Chulabhorn Veterinary Volunteer Unit collaborated with the Provincial and District Livestock Offices to provide sterilization services and rabies vaccinations for dogs and cats.  The team also
organized activities to promote knowledge and understanding of the proper methods of rabies prevention, as well as raising people’s awareness about responsible pet ownership.  Indeed, Her Royal Highness is committed to promoting responsible and proper pet care among the Thai people.

At the same time, eradicating rabies in animals at the local level requires vigilance and efficiency.  The
prevention of rabies with quality rabies vaccines is therefore vital.  On this occasion, Her Royal Highness
graciously granted audiences to the Chiefs of Nakhon Ratchasima Provincial Livestock Office and Bua Yai District Livestock Office and presented them with rabies vaccines for further vaccination to boost
herd immunity among stray animals in public spaces in the Province.

Afterwards, Her Royal Highness performed veterinary work, with the veterinarians from the Chulabhorn Veterinary Volunteer Unit, to administer rabies vaccines to people’s pets and distribute dog tags under HRH Princess Chulabhorn’s project on “Disease-free Animals, Safe Humans from Rabies”, marking vaccinated
animals as safe.  Her Royal Highness also performed veterinary procedures, including anesthesia and
sterilization, and treated dogs for diseases such as uterine infections.  These treatments were conducted in a mobile surgical unit, equipped with high-standard safety protocols and quality veterinary equipment, to
ensure effective sterilization in accordance with proper veterinary medicine principles, aiming to sustainably establish rabies-free areas across the country.  Over the two-day mission, 143 dogs and cats were sterilized and 156 vaccinated against rabies.
