By Royal Command of the President of the Chulabhorn Research Institute, Vice President for International Relations, Chulabhorn Research Institute Presided over the Opening Ceremony of the Project on Integrated Training for Knowledge Dissemination and Technology Transfer on the Management of Rabies to Communities in Tak Province
On December 16, 2023, by Royal Command of Professor Dr. Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Mahidol, President of the Chulabhorn Research Institute, Lieutenant Chawat Arthayukti, Vice President for International Relations, Chulabhorn Research Institute, presided over the opening ceremony of the Project on Integrated Training for Knowledge Dissemination and Technology Transfer on the Management of Rabies to Communities, under the strategic plan of the operation of HRH Princess Chulabhorn’s project on “Disease-free Animals, Safe Humans from Rabies”. The event was held at Viang Tak Riverside Hotel, Mueang Tak district, Tak province.
This Project on integrated training for relevant knowledge dissemination and technology and innovation transfer on the management of rabies to communities is organized through the cooperation between the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and the Faculty of Education, Kasetsart University. The two Faculties jointly transfer knowledge to people to ensure that they all understand the management of the problems of rabies in provinces across the country. The activities included academic lectures on relevant laws and regulations and a workshop on the use of applications. Approximately 180 participants attended, comprising livestock officials, public health officials from local administrative organizations, health education teachers, village health volunteers, and community representatives.
Tak province has been selected as a target area for the operation of the Project on Integrated Training for Knowledge Dissemination and Technology Transfer on the Management of Rabies to Communities. In Tak province, the dog and cat population totals 127,290, of which 1,817 are already sterilized, with 133,410 doses of vaccination against rabies administered, and 68 rabies-free areas established.
