On January 9, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in the Lom Sak District Office Meeting Hall, Lom Sak District, Phetchabun Province, by Royal Command of Professor Dr. Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Mahidol, President of the Chulabhorn Research Institute, who was deeply concerned with the health of victims affected by the cold weather, Mr. Bancha Techasakul, Vice President for Special Activities, Chulabhorn Research Institute, presented 2,000 sets of the Royally-granted essential supplies to Mr. Krit Kongmuang, Governor of Phetchabun Province, for onward transmission to the victims of cold weather in the Districts of Lom Sak, Nam Nao, and Lom Kao in Phetchabun Province. The primary goal was to uplift the spirits and alleviate the immediate suffering of those affected by the cold weather at the initial stage.  The benevolence of High Royal Highness brought immeasurable joy and gratitude to the communities affected by the cold weather.

Phetchabun Province is administratively divided into 11 Districts and is located in lower northern Thailand. The weather between the end of November and December is generally cool.  In its mountainous region, the weather is cool all year round possibly with gusty winds in some areas on some days. As the high-pressure system from China regularly spreads to cover the north of Thailand, it results in cold to very cold weather in winter.  Particularly in the districts of Nam Nao, Khao Kho, Lom Kao, and Lom Sak in Phetchabun Province, a survey revealed that 30,613 people were affected by the cold weather. The Provincial Office plans to request support from various agencies for blankets to distribute to those affected by the cold weather across the board.
