ICEHT : Training Programs

Short-term Training Program in Environmental Health, Toxicology and Risk Assessment :

The Center organizes training programs, structured towards the development of human resources, required by government and industrial sectors in Thailand and other developing countries, to cope with the increasing use of chemicals and rapid industrialization.

The short-term training program is designed to increase the national capacity to manage environmental, toxicological and health problems through the development of human resources in the government, academic and private sectors.  It is envisaged that the participants of the short-term training program should have significant experience and responsibility in relation to chemical safety.

The training program comprises a series of training courses and workshops taught by world-renowned international experts to cover the fundamental aspects and specific types of training courses, such as hands-on practical courses in targeted research and analytical techniques and applications, as well as courses on regulatory aspects of toxicology.

These courses are designed to provide specialized training for future trainers, in order to ensure a multiplier effect.In-country training courses and workshops aimed at contributing to human resources development at the country level are also organized in selected countries in the Southeast Asian region, that have established technical cooperation programs with ICEHT.

In the past three decades, ICEHT has organized 113 training courses/workshops/conferences at international level with more than 4,200 trainees/participants from over 44 countries. At least 10 developing countries have participated in most of the training activities.

In addition to the training courses conducted at CRI in Bangkok, Thailand, training courses can also be organized in countries that make a request, either to CRI directly or through other organizations, such as WHO. The benefits of in-country training are that more participants from any one country can attend the course. Since 1998, in-country training has been organized in Bhutan, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Sri Lanka and Vietnam.

Recent short-term training courses have included the following:

  • Principles of Toxicology
  • Environmental Toxicology and Health
  • Environmental and Health Risk Assessment, and Management of Toxic Chemicals
  • Detection of Environmental Pollutants and Monitoring of Health Effects
  • Environmental Immunotoxicology and Reproductive Toxicology
  • Occupational and Environmental Medicine

These courses are open to participants, primarily from the Asia Pacific region, and are taught by international experts from world-renowned academic and research institutions with a wealth of teaching experience in the region.

Those who are interested in applying for a fellowship to attend such training courses can check Activity Calendar
